| Okay, kids, help me out.
Should I save what little doll money I have for bodies, so that my crew can get back on track with their much-delayed plotline? So y'all can have something to look at besides my ordinary, boring photoshoots?
Or. . .
Should I bid on her?

She would definitely have dark hair. I think I would call her Minx, but her real name would be something old-fashioned and frumpy; Winnifred, maybe. That kittenish look makes me want her to be secretly dangerous.

| Yeah. So, I really shouldn't let her steal Vee's body like this, and I really shouldn't be using the back end of an MSD-size wig under her kitty hat.
But. . . look at her.

| So. . . once upon a time, I had a LiveJournal. Once upon a time, I updated this LiveJournal on a regular basis.
Then, there was a great silence. Things happened in Real Life. People died. I got a new job. People got cancer. I moved. People tried to commit suicide, and then I went to the hospital and kinda-sorta. . . proposed. To them. And kinda got accepted. It was chaotic! It was practically a dollie story like the ones I usually post, complete with every kind of sex and gender expression under the sun!
. . . and so sadly, online, I disappeared. No more pictures. No more posts.
But! Slowly, I am returning to the world of the living, because slowly my real life is looking normal again. I am revamping my plotline a little bit, as it never really recovered from the gaping hole Hazel left behind. (New things: I think Cherian's a lost cause. Mischa keeps rejecting every doll I pick to be him. But! The Shirou head has redeemed itself by becoming someone else entirely, India's best friend Phelan. A girl. And India has done a switcheroo on me, and is now identifying as transgender, and wants an asexual Tenshi body instead of the one I had planned for hir. This new identity explains why. . . oh, wait, I can't tell you that yet.) I still have no money to purchase bodies, and currently I'm having memory card problems. . . but that's life.
Anyway. Hi, all my favorite dollie people! I've missed you! I'm sorry I've been away so long, really I am.
Also, I think I have discovered the trick to figuring out which dolls are "keepers" in my little (predominantly not-straight, I'm realizing) resin family: they've all got "e" sound nicknames! Seriously, check it out:
Mi Vee Chi-Chi and now: Phee Indy
Am I predictable or what?
Oh, and this is Phelan. I know she probably doesn't look all that different to you now than she did when I was still trying to make her be Cherian, but to me? She is transformed. (And I get to actually legitimately use the blind eye! YES.)

| I'm not sure if I ever said much about Cherian before. If it isn't painfully obvious from the pictures below, he's my emo boy -- tortured, serious, mildly pretentious and totally unaware of it. He's India's older brother, and Mischa's ex-lover. (Possibly the "ex" part will change in the future, but I'm not telling yet.) He likes music a lot, and fancies himself a musician, but really he's only able to dabble in it because his family is so ridiculously wealthy.
Right now, he's simply a head. Hopefully that will change.

| Hi, everyone! Sorry I sorta dropped off the face of the earth -- I've been in Oregon at an unschooling gathering, teachin' workshops, flirting with cute girls, all that good stuff. But it was held in a pretty rustic setting: sap, dirt, pretty trees, etc. No place for dollies. So they've been in the closet for a week and a half.
I had some pretty exciting packages waiting for me when I got back, though! One of them was my spontaneous head purchase a few weeks back, the mold I always originally imagined Cherian would be but never expected to get: Shirou. He was expensive; I still cringe about it. But he really is perfect.
The other package was this dress, which the Chichenitza was kind enough to model for us. Volks just kills me every time with the little Yo outfits. ^^; I thought she looked like a little flapper girl with that hat, so I desaturated the pictures to make them look a little like hand-tinted or faded photos. I hope you like them!

| These two have such an interesting relationship. If he wasn't so completely unattracted to women, I think they'd be destined for marriage or something.
Viola has been absolutely shining since Mischa got back -- I don't know if you can see it in these photos, but her whole face is just softer. I get the feeling that he tempers her madness, somehow. . . it's strange. She's afraid without him, and angry. It's almost like she's only able to reach out when she knows he'll be there to catch her if she falls.
She has a rare innocence born of inexperience instead of naivete, and he knows it even though she does not. When I pose them together she always seems protective; possessive, even. But if you look at his eyes. . . he's the one who looks like he's guarding something.

| I don't usually post online tests, but this is so ruefully accurate that it amuses me.
| Your Candy Heart Says "Get Real" | You're a bit of a cynic when it comes to love. You don't lose your head, and hardly anyone penetrates your heart.
Your ideal Valentine's Day date: is all about the person you're seeing (with no mentions of v-day!)
Your flirting style: honest and even slightly sarcastic
What turns you off: romantic expectations and "greeting card" holidays

| He's perfect. She pulled it off.
I was afraid he would look like just another Kohya, but in person he is so very much himself. It may take me a few days the find the right angles for photographing him, but he is anxious and sweet and shy. . . and, oddly, just the tiniest bit ironic, which I could never get to show up on his face before. Different than he was, but wonderful as he is.
See?

Sometimes, when people have been away for a long while, you don't recognize them when they return. ( Read more... ) | comments: 22 comments or Leave a comment |
| I don't have the words to describe her. She is a child walking in the world of grown-ups, the spotless virgin hiding her secrets in a bloody bag tied beneath her skirt. She is Red Riding Hood after the wolf, lithe Fideal lurking in deep water. . . the perpetual innocence in her eyes distracts us from the knife in her hand.
She is my Botticelli girl.

Yaaaaaaaaay.
Part 2 of the face-up agony is over. Now he just has to survive the last leg of his journey. . . *clings to tracking page* | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| So, Mitsuki e-mailed me today! Mi is finished! *joyjoy*
She photographed him with a silver wig, so I went in and did a photo edit hack to give him the proper hair color. He looks a little sadder than he should, and if it's super obvious when he gets home I may have to go in and touch up the corners of his mouth. . . but Mi only smiles for me, anyway, so it may just be the angle of the pictures. Overall, I'm really pleased. I can't wait to get him back and put in the right color eyes so he looks like himself again.

| So, there was this doll meet-up? In Berkeley. And I went! It was kind of scary for my shy, awkward self, but I saw scads of gorgeous dollies and put faces on a bunch of DoA usernames, which makes me happy. It was great to meet everyone! And many thanks to Kellyhime for organizing.
Sadly, I didn't get good photos of everyone (St. James' Midnight Illusion Choa, for example, whose name I can't remember but who was absolutely gorgeous), but a few turned out tolerably well.
On to the lineup!

First we have an elegant pair of hands belonging to a Ksy owned, I believe, by Kallisti.

And a shot of the magnificent goggles she sported at the meet!

Then St. James, owned by DoA's St. James, glances rather slyly in our direction. . . I'm not sure what he's thinking. ^^; ( Read more... ) | comments: 16 comments or Leave a comment |
| This has been a very creative week for me. I'm crediting that to a blessed lack of stress and drama in my life, as I have never been a tortured artist at all. I make art when I'm happy.
Anyway. I sewed my little Veela an outfit for the Bay Area meet on Saturday. I'm quite proud of myself for coming up with 2 new patterns in one day, especially because both of them worked. ^^;
Unfortunately the outfit has NOTHING to do with the theme of the meet-up, which is Alice in Wonderland -- I did put a little heart on her vest in a sort of half-hearted "Maybe she's the Queen of Hearts?" attempt, but I'm thinking it looks kind of weird now. Does it? I'll take a vote, weird vs. cute. I was going for cute-but-shabby, because the only shoes that will fit Vee's new body are Mischa's cowboy boots, and I wanted her clothes to look okay with them.
(The belt, I did not make. We borrowed it from Mischa.)

| No, just a changeling doll. ^^; I'm selling her on DoA, so she borrowed some of Vee's accoutrements.
I'm a bit frustrated by the heavy eyelashes. They look a lot less delicate than the eyebrows, and the contrast bugs me. Someday I'm going to be really good at this doll-painting thing. . . but today is not that day. Today I am cheerfully mediocre.
(I figure I can't be too terrible, because I do sell all the heads I paint.)

| She's HERE. Oh, the not-so-secret secret has arrived. (Thank you so much, Mid -- I'm sorry for worrying. BTW, what kind of eyes did you send with her? They're pretty -- seem like maybe Kanis Augen, but I wasn't sure. Anyway, thank you thank you! <3<3<3 )
And she's fine, aside from a very small smudge on the end of her nose and one bent eyeslash. (EDIT: eyelash. Not eyeslash. That sounds both painful and permanent. ^^; ) Not bad for having spent nearly three weeks in a box.
However, since she is far from finished, this is all you get:

And as far as plot goes? She is related to a certain small someone with chubby feet -- but I won't say how, or what that means. Not yet.
Her name is India. | comments: 17 comments or Leave a comment |
| So Viola's SD-13 body got sent off today. And. . . well, I decided that I would try her head on something I've been saving for another character. Just temporarily, you know?
She has now informed me that she's not giving it back.
But, but, but, I tell her. The hands and feet are ginormous! Your shoes won't fit. Your clothes will be too loose.
Yeah, she keeps saying, but look at me. . .
I must have the only doll in the whole world who can actually be attracted to her own legs. -_-;;

| Muu. I went to the post office today, but no word on the package -- my postman said he couldn't track it because it was a Canadian tracking number, but that it might be stuck in customs or something, because it definitely wasn't at the post office.
Mid, do you think your post office would be able to track the number? I don't want to be a bother, but I'm definitely worried now. ;_; My postman is really good with stuff like this, and he couldn't find any record of her. I'm just scared she's going to get lost. . . | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| Aw, crap.
I really hate it when more than one person wants to buy something you're selling, and then there's miscommunication between one person or another, and someone ends up disappointed. . . *huddles in a corner* I try so hard to make everyone happy, but those SD-13 bodies, you know. . . everyone wants them. . . | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |
